World Book Week is an annual celebration of books, reading, publishing and copyright. It encourages children to interact with books, authors, stories, and libraries as a window to the imagination but also a path to knowledge and information.
Earlier in the week, “mystery readers” from our community read to our younger students from the ELV & Elementary. We also made bookmarks, had pop-up libraries, and a week-long book fair by Closetful of Books!
We then ended Book Week with Book Character Parades. Our students got to dress up as characters from their favorite stories, as they paraded in front of their friends while holding up their books. We got to see such colorful and creative costumes from our students, as they got to put themselves in the character’s shoes for the day.
