Under the leadership of our 2021 alumni Akhil, our previous batch of SAISMUN has been awarded the “Best MUN” award in the Refugees & Technology category as part of the MUN Refugees Challenge 2021, organised by UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency. Through this challenge, MUN delegates worldwide debate major issues related to forced displacement.
To help bridge the digital gap among refugees, the solution by our MUN urged “refugee-hosting countries to establish access to methods of communication” by “providing Internet access to refugee camps”, “provide basic digital literacy workshops”, & creating “apps for refugees to find work, shelter and hospitals.” This idea was then depicted as a LEGO scene by an artist.
